A drunken brawl between two friends ended in a murder in Kodungaiyur on Sunday night after one smashed the head of the other with a stone.
Kodungaiyur police identified the victim as Arun (23), a mini-van driver and a resident of Thiruvalluvar Salai, R V Nagar, in Kodungaiyur. On Sunday evening, Arun and his friend Vijayakumar (27), a daily-wage labourer and also a resident of Thiruvalluvar Salai, went for a drink. While drunk, the men got into an argument which snowballed into a fistfight. Arun assaulted Vijayakumar and left the spot. He later collapsed outside his house and fell asleep. An angry Vijayakumar came to the spot and killed Arun with a stone.
Vijayakumar, who attempted to flee, was apprehend by the Kodungaiyur police.
