2 policemen suspended for misconduct

July 06, 2014 11:00 am | Updated 11:01 am IST - CHENNAI:

Two policemen have been placed under suspicion for alleged misbehaviour with a few women helpers at an old age home in Virugambakkam, a few days ago.

According to police sources, head constable Raja (41) and constable Kumaresan (32), both attached to the Virugambakkam police, had entered the old age home in an inebriated state, on the pretext of carrying out an inspection. The duo claimed that a prostitution racket was being operated under the cover of the home, and started harassing the inmates.

They misbehaved with young women helpers at the home and when the senior citizens intervened, the duo assaulted them. Following the incident, the home in-charge Ayesha lodged a complaint.
