2 motorcycle riders die in road mishaps

A two-wheeler rider was killed on the spot on Monday when he was run over by a private bus in T. Nagar.

C. Rajendran (55), an employee of BSNL and a resident of Mylapore, was riding a motorcycle and was on his way to Ekkatuthangal. He was driving from Eldams Road into Thyagaraya Road, when his vehicle collided with a mini bus around 6.30 a.m. The bus was being run for a private corporate hospital in the city.

The bus was travelling from South Boag Road to North Boag Road, on its way to the hospital, police said. The bus rammed into the two-wheeler, dragging Rajendran several feet before he came under the wheels of the vehicle.

The pillion rider B. Veerappan (28) escaped with injuries. He was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital.

Police arrested the driver of the bus, M. Senthil Kumar and are investigating.

Youth dies

In another incident in Sembium, Mohan Babu (20), who was riding a two-wheeler on Saturday, was seriously injured in the head when his vehicle collided with another two-wheeler on Paper Mills Road in Perambur. He was admitted to a private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday. Thirumangalam police have registered a case and are investigating.
