14 others sustained injuries when truck overturned

Two Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel were killed and 14 others sustained injuries in an accident on Chennai-Tirupati Road near Tiruttani on Wednesday morning.

According to police, the accident took place around 6.30 a.m. near the Ponpadi railway station, 5 km from Tiruttani.

A team of 16 CISF personnel were travelling in the truck. Discarded and scrap materials were being transported from the Regional Training Centre, Thakkolam near Arakonam to another CISF RTC at Bhilai in Chhattisgarh.

According to police, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to fatigue while negotiating a turn near Ponpadi and the truck overturned.

Two CISF personnel – head constable S.P.Singh and constable A.H.Chand – sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot.

Maan, Yadhav, sub-inspector Vijayaraja, head constables Khaberpaul and Govalanath, constables Akbar Hussain, Mukil, Khurshid, Gughendra Kumar, Chandobha, Sooriyavan, Subash Chandra, R.K.Varma and Kamliwad sustained injuries.
