VIT University’s Bangalore campus is likely to be operational from 2015, said G. Viswanathan, chancellor of the university.
“It will take about a year for the construction to be completed. We will begin with B.Tech, and offer courses after assessing the demand,” he said, speaking at a press conference here.
This year, around 1,93,790 students have registered for the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE), a computer-based test for admission into their B.Tech programmes. They will be competing for a total of around 4,197 seats in VIT’s Vellore and Chennai campuses.
'The exam is scheduled to be held between April 9 and 20. It will also be held in Dubai and Kuwait, apart from 112 Indian cities, Mr. Viswanathan said. The results will be announced on or before April 28 on the university’s website, www.vit.ac.in.
On placements, he said a total of 3,031 students have been placed so far with the highest offer at Rs. 16 lakh per annum.
