Fifteen students of Pachaiyappa’s College were detained after they staged a protest outside the college gate stopping other students from entering the institution.

They were protesting in support of 10 students who were suspended from the college on disciplinary grounds 10 days ago.

According to police, the suspended students would sit outside the campus raising slogans against the management and were inciting others to join the protest. One of the issues raised by the students was to change reporting time to college, which is 9 a.m. The management, however, declined to change the timing.

On Monday at 9.30 a.m, over 60 students gathered outside the campus, and blocked the entrance gate. The police picked up 15 protesters. They were released on bail around noon.
