A 15-day-old girl went missing from the premises of the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital on Monday morning. However, the police claim they have managed to obtain the whereabouts of the child.

According to Narayana Babu, Dean, Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Manimegalai, 22, had come in for a master health check-up.

“She came in with two other women in a car. She had a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter and a 15-day-old baby. CCTV footage shows her with the daughter and one of the women carrying the baby going into the building. Then the woman carrying the baby left the building. The second woman came in a little while later to pay. Then she too, left the building,” Dr. Narayana Babu said.

When Ms. Manimegalai came out of the building, she found the car with the women and her baby gone. A case was registered at the police station.

Footage obtained

During investigation, the footage of all three women was obtained and the women were identified. There are 170 CCTV cameras in the hospital.

“It is suspected that Ms. Manimegalai knew the women. We suspect some foul play in this case and we are investigating,” said a police officer.

The police have identified the whereabouts of the child and a team has already been sent to rescue the baby, claim police officers.
