In Chennai, 14-year-old schoolgirl falls from terrace, dies

A 14-year-old girl died after she fell from the terrace of her home on Tuesday night. The incident occurred in front of her parents.

According to police, the victim was Soundarya, a class IX student of a private school in Purasawalkam. Her father, Thyagarajan, works at a private bank and her mother, Thilakam is a homemaker. The couple also has a son. The family lives in T.V. Nagar in Thirumangalam.

On Tuesday night, Soundarya, her brother and her parents were sitting out on the terrace after dinner. They were talking to each other, when Soundarya, who was sitting on the parapet, slipped and fell.

Her family ran down and rushed Soundarya, who had suffered severe injuries, to Government Kilpauk Hospital. Doctors who examined her said she had died en route. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
