11-year-old run over by MTC bus

An 11-year-old boy died on the spot after he came under the wheels of a Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus on Grand Southern Trunk Road at Tambaram on Wednesday evening.

The boy, K. Lingamurthy of Mudichur, is a class VI student at CSI Corley Higher Secondary School in East Tambaram.

Traffic police said he was trying to board the bus (route no. 583) that was on its way to Sriperumbudur from the Tambaram bus terminus. The doors were about to shut when Lingamurthy tried to get in.

He lost balance and fell under the wheels of the bus which ran over him, traffic policemen investigating the case said.

The body was taken to Tambaram Taluk Government Hospital in Chromepet for post-mortem.
