100 sovereigns of gold jewellery stolen in MGR Nagar

Gold jewellery weighing nearly 100 sovereigns were reportedly stolen from the residence of a retired Indian Air Force staff member.

Police have launched a detailed probe as there were no signs of a break-in.

Sources with the Virugambakkam police said the complainant, Krishnamoorthy (69), alerted the police that a burglary had taken place in his residence in MGR Nagar, Saligramam, and gold jewellery weighing close to 100 sovereigns were missing from two almirahs located on the ground and first floor.

Krishnamoorthy and his daughter Deepa are the only residents of the house. The time of the burglary has not yet been determined.

Virugambakkam police have registered a case of burglary and are investigating.
