The release of the Tamil version of Bukhari Shariff titled “Aljaamivus Sahih al-Bukhari sheriff” marked the annual convocation of the Noorul Islam Madrasa Arabic College in the city on Tuesday.

Moulvi M. A. Umar Farooq Hazrath Dawoodi, senior professor, Dawoodiya Arabic College, Erode, released the book, translated by Moulana S. S. Abdul Qadir Bakavi, and L. S. Zainulabideen of Chennai received the first copy.

“Sahih al-Bukhari” is one of the six major hadees (sayings of Prophet Mohammad). These prophetic traditions, Hadees, were collected by the Persian Muslim scholar Mohammad al-Bukhari, after being transmitted orally for generation. The Muslims view this as one of the two most trusted and authentic collections of Hadees.

The convocation commenced with the recital of Bukhari sheriff by the outgoing students of the Madrasa and Moulvi A. Mohammad Yahya Dawoodi, vice principal of the Madras, handed over the degrees (sanads) to the new ‘Aalims’. Moulvi M. Abdul Malik Rashadi, professor of the Madrasa, presided and Moulvi M. Mohammad Sabir Ali Siraji, Principal of the Madrasa, presented the annual report.

Moulvi A. S. Ziaur Rahman Noorani, Imam Masjid Ilahi, Palani, M. A. Haroon Rasheed, Muthavalli, Noorul Islam Jamath, and others offered felicitations.

Certificates were also distributed to the madrasa students who came out successful in the Diploma in Computer Application course.
