A youth was hacked to death while playing cricket on Sunday evening in Mahalakshmi Layout. The deceased Manikantha, 22, was unemployed. He was a resident of Geleyara Balaga. He was playing cricket with a group of friends at the local playground. Police said he had a bitter altercation with another team over going outside the playground to pick the ball. Sources said, later, some men followed him to a friend’s house and hacked him to death with lethal weapons. Though he was rushed to a nearby private hospital, he was declared brought dead.
Mahalakshmi Layout police have registered a case and are analysing CCTV footage from nearby junctions to identify the culprits.
