An 18-year-old youth was stabbed to death by his friend over a trivial row in Siddapura on Sunday.

Rahman, who worked in a vehicle spare parts shop on J.C. Road, had borrowed a mobile phone from his friend Salman (20), a fabricator. Heated arguments ensued between them when Rahman refused to return the phone. An irate Rahman pulled out a knife to threaten Salman. Enraged, Salman overpowered Rahman, snatched the knife and stabbed him repeatedly before fleeing from the scene.

Rahman, who was profusely bleeding, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

The Siddapura police later arrested Salman and remanded him to judicial custody.

Man murders wife

A 25-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her husband over a family row in Kadugodi on Sunday.

Geetha, who worked as a house-keeping staff in a private firm, was married to Shankar eights years ago and the couple had three children. Shankar, a daily wage worker, used to frequently quarrel with Geetha. Fed up with this, Geetha and her children had moved in with her parents.

On Sunday, Shankar went to his in-law’s house and convinced Geetha to return home. However, soon after she came back home, Shankar picked up a fight with her and stabbed her to death.

The Kadugodi police arrested Shankar and further investigations are on to ascertain the exact reason for the murder.
