An unidentified youth was found bludgeoned to death in the parking lot of RMC Yard. His body was discovered by passersby, who alerted the police on Saturday morning. No proof of identity was found on him, said the police.


Goods worth Rs. 4 lakh were destroyed in a fire that broke out at an outlet of Champion Industries on Magadi Road near Anjan Theatre on Saturday morning. Fire and Emergency Services personnel, who received a call at 8.40 a.m., sent two fire tenders to the spot. Furnishing material stored in a small room on the first floor of the building caught fire. The room was also being used to store inflammable materials, including wood pieces, plywood sheets and other waste materials, said officials who added that an electric short circuit may have triggered the fire.

The firemen were able to save goods worth Rs. 2.75 lakh, officials added.

Two die in accident

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in the city since Friday night. Avinash (26), resident of Chandapura and son of head constable Muniyappa attached to the City Armed Reserve (CAR), was killed when his motorcycle rammed a divider on Hosur Road on Friday night. He sustained head injuries and was rushed to St. John’s Hospital, where he succumbed.

The Electronic City traffic police registered a case.

In another accident, Yelumalai (26), resident of Bagalgunte and a mason by profession, was killed when a car hit his vehicle at the rear. Yelumalai had recently come to the city from his hometown in Tamil Nadu. The Jalahalli traffic police are on the lookout for the car driver.

In yet another incident, Head Constable Madhusudhan who was on duty near the Wipro junction near Adugodi was injured when a car knocked him down.

Madhusudhan sustained injuries on his left leg and was taken to the hospital.

The car driver, Hrithik, a private company employee who was coming from Koramangala, did not possess a driver’s licence and was arrested, said the Adugodi police.
