Workshop on Hindustani music

The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Southern Regional Centre, is organising a daylong workshop on ‘Appreciation of the basic nuances and aesthetics of Hindustani classical music’ on May 17 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is open for all. It will be conducted by young vocalist Pushkar Lele. He will demystify the basics of saptak, samvad, concepts of raga, laya, tala and bandish, techniques of elaboration, gharanas and their characteristics.

The workshop will be preceded by a full-length concert of Pushkar Lele at the bhavan’s Khincha Auditorium on May 16 at 6.30 pm. The IGNCA is live streaming the events in association with Shaale Live. Log onto http://livestream.com/shaalelive/17may2015 or the IGNCA website http://ignca.nic.in/
