Motorcycle-borne men robbed two women of their gold chains in separate incidents on Sunday.

Santoshi, a resident of Dasappa layout in Ramamurthy Nagar, was returning from her evening walk when two men on a motorcycle snatched her gold chain worth Rs. 1 lakh and sped away.

In a similar incident, Radhamani, who was feeding her baby outside the house, was robbed of her gold chain in Maruthinagar, Yelahanka. The duo on a motorcycle had approached her on the pretext of asking for an address and sped away after snatching the chain from her neck.

Cash stolen from shop

Cash amounting to Rs. 19.5 lakh was allegedly stolen from an apparel shop in Chickpet on Sunday.

As it was half a day’s work on Sunday, the salesmen closed the shop in the afternoon and handed over the keys to the owner as usual.

The incident came to light when the security guard came to the shop in the evening and found the shutter ajar. He called up the owner, Jinesh Kumar, who rushed to the shop and found that the cash kept in the drawer was missing. Kumar told the police that he had left the day’s collection in the shop as it was a bank holiday. The police suspect the involvement of the two salesmen, who are absconding.

Group clash

Five persons were injured when two groups of labourers clashed over a trivial issue in Yamalur on Sunday. The police have arrested eight persons. According to the police, over 50 labourers from different parts of north India, working at adjacent construction sites and living at makeshift houses, clashed. They reportedly attacked each other with clubs and iron rods. The HAL police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
