A homemaker was found strangled to death and valuables robbed from her home in Nanjappa Block in Kempe Gowda Nagar on Tuesday.

The victim is Manasa (28), mother of a four-year-old son and wife of Nagaraju, who works for a construction firm.

The couple had planned to move to Yelahanka next month. Police suspect she was murdered around 11 a.m. The crime came to light around 1 p.m. when her little son, Ajit, returned from school. Seeing his mother lying prone on the floor, the boy started wailing, which brought the landlord, Nagraj Bhat, running.

K.G. Nagar police said the entire house was ransacked and the jewellery on Manasa’s person had been removed. There was no evidence of forced entry.

Manasa was last seen by neighbours around 10 a.m. when she went to fetch milk from a nearby booth. She returned home with a few people. Police found she had served her guests tea.

Joint Commissioner of Police Pronab Mohanty (Crime) said that though valuables were missing, it could be a red herring.
