A 29-year-old woman was killed when she came under the wheels of a train while crossing the railway tracks in west Bengaluru on Monday afternoon.

The deceased, Shwetha Manjunath was a home-maker. Her husband Majunath, an advocate, sustained injuries in the accident, the police said.

Manjunath has been admitted to Victoria Hospital where he is said to be out of danger. The couple reside in Challaghatta, the police added.

According to city railway police, the accident occurred around 3.30 p.m. between Jnanabharathi and Nayandahalli when the couple was crossing the tracks. They failed to see the Mysuru-bound Tipu Express approaching owing to a curve on the tracks.

Shwetha succumbed to her injuries while being taken to Rajarajeshwari Hospital.
