A 33-year-old woman, who was alone at home having dinner without locking the front door on Monday night, was robbed of her gold chain by an unidentified intruder.

Police said an unidentified man barged into the house while the woman was having dinner in the drawing room, gagged her mouth with a tape and tied her hands and legs before escaping with the gold chain worth Rs. 2 lakh.

The incident, which took place in Electronics City, came to light when her family members returned home and found the front door latched from outside. Suspecting something fishy, they rushed inside to see Anitha lying on the bed with her hands tied and mouth gagged.

The Parappana Agrahara police rushed to the spot and are investigating. Police suspect that the attacker might have kept a watch on the house and noticed the family members going out leaving Anitha alone.

In another incident, two motorcycle-borne men snatched a gold chain from a woman in Madiwala on Tuesday morning.

Shalini (65) was returning from her morning walk when the duo intercepted her and made away with the gold chain.

In a similar incident, two men snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 2 lakh from a doctor in HBR Layout on Tuesday.

Dr. Shobha Rani was watering the plant in front of her house when the two men on motorcycle approached her on the pretext of enquiring about an address and sped away after snatching her gold chain. The KG Halli police have taken up a case of robbery and are investigating.
