A woman was bludgeoned to death at her house in Kaverinagar under Mahadevapura police limits on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

The deceased, identified as Jayamma (31), was a native of Madanapalli in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. Jayamma was the second wife of Nagaraj, a manual labourer, and the couple resided in a slum in Kaverinagar. They did not have any children.

According to the police, neighbours had last seen the couple arguing on Friday afternoon. The next day, at around 8 a.m. when Nagaraj’s father, Venkataramanappa, went to his son’s house, he found Jayamma lying with her head crushed.

He immediately informed the owner of the house Narayanaswamy, who filed a complaint with the police. Nagaraj is absconding and the police have launched a search for him.

The police suspect that Nagaraj may have murdered Jayamma late in the night. The police are yet to ascertain the weapon used to inflict injury.
