A 22-year-old woman committed suicide at her fiancé's house during his birthday party, in Kadugodi on Saturday.

The deceased Sunanda, a student of a private college, had gone to her fiancé Saidra's house to celebrate his birthday.

After the couple had a quarrel, Saidra walked out of the house, the police said. She hanged herself when she was alone in the house. Upon returning home late in the night, Saidra found Sunanda's body. He ran away from the house and tried to commit suicide by consuming poison. A few passers-by found him frothing on the roadside and rushed him to hospital, where he is said to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, Sunanda's brother Suman came in search of Sunanda and found her body. He informed the Kadugodi police, who rushed to the spot to investigate. The police are awaiting Saidra's recovery to question him, while Sunanda's family members alleged he murdered her.
