A 24-year-old woman committed suicide after being beaten up by her landlady in Chandra Layout on Thursday.
The deceased, identified as Devi, was married to Kumar, a tractor driver and the couple had two-year-old son.
According to the police, the owner of the house identified as Susheelamma suspected her of having an affair with the latter's son and had frequent fights.
On Thursday, Susheelamma along with her friend Meenakshi, barged into Devi's house when Kumar had gone out for work and dragged her out to beat her publicly.
Humiliated by this, Devi committed suicide by hanging in the house leaving behind a suicide note.
The Chandra Layout Police rushed to the spot and arrested Susheelamma and Meenashi on the charges of abatement to suicide.
