In a repeat of the last two days, water-logging was reported from several parts of the city on Thursday too, with the Fire Department still at work trying to pump out water from the Salem Bridge underpass near Doddanekkundi.

“The trucks will complete clearing the underpass by evening; some other places in outer ring road were also affected and the problem has been resolved,” said a personnel from the Fire Department, adding that a pipe had gotten dislodged from a storm-drain underneath and this was causing the problem.

The BBMP control room confirmed that the Old Madras Road to Iblur junction which was also flooded has been opened for traffic. Some areas of Bannerghatta Road and Bilekahalli which were water-logged were also cleared.

Meanwhile, people regularly using the Salem Bridge underpass said that this is not the first time it was causing problems. “Almost everytime there is a heavy spate of rain, the underpass is flooded and we cannot use it. It also looks dangerous to try and ferry our two-wheelers across,” said Mallesh R., who lives one street away from the underpass and has to use it to get to work.

“I usually wade through the street, it is easier than trying to go around it, “said Shilpa Chethan, another resident.

“Water logging had also been reported near Kino Theatre Junction, Anand Rao Circle, Maharani College underpass and near ITC Windsor. All of these have been resolved for now,” said the BBMP control-room officer.
