Officials of the Water Resources Department and the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) have been asked to monitor drinking water supply to Bangalore daily, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said.
Addressing the media after his first Cabinet meeting here on Saturday, Mr. Siddaramaiah said officials were directed to take steps to tackle the city’s drinking water problem on a war footing.
The Chief Minister chaired a meeting of officials of the BWSSB, Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Ltd. and Water Resources Department on Friday to ensure that drinking water supply to the city is not hit. “All steps are being taken to supply drinking water to Bangalore,” he said.
Ministers Ramalinga Reddy, K.J. George, Dinesh Gundu Rao and Krishna Byre Gowda, all from Bangalore, will hold a meeting soon to take stock of the drinking water supply situation in the city.
The city has been facing severe scarcity owing to the plummeting water-level in the Krishnaraja Sagar across the Cauvery in Mandya district.
