A 50-year-old watchman of a law college was killed while he was removing water that had flooded the basement on Thursday night. Police suspect that Rajashekhar might have died due to electrocution since there was no chance of drowning as the water-level was only two feet.

The body has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death while the police have registered a case of unnatural death.

Rain damage

Following heavy rain on Thursday, retaining wall of storm-water drains gave away, leading to flooding of surrounding areas in at least three locations.

An under-construction retaining wall in Domlur collapsed and water flooded an apartment complex. BBMP Commissioner G. Kumar Naik visited the spot and directed officials to raise the retaining wall of the drain. Similar reports came in from Jai Maruti Nagar, Nandini Layout, Vinayaka Layout and Girinagar.

Mr. Naik also visited the spot where security guard Venkateshappa (55) was killed in a wall collapse and announced a compensation of Rs. 50,000 to his family.
