Warden on the run after sexually assaulting student

April 08, 2014 11:17 pm | Updated May 21, 2016 09:43 am IST - Bangalore:

The Magadi police are on a manhunt to trace a physical education teacher-cum-warden of a school in Magadi, on the outskirts of the city, for allegedly sexually abusing a 9th standard student.

Police officials probing the case questioned how a male faculty was appointed as warden for a girls’ school in violation of the rules.

The incident came to light on Saturday when the victim was taken to a hospital after she complained of stomach ache and uneasiness.

The doctors at the hospital confirmed that the girl was 22 weeks pregnant.

Upon enquiry by the police, the school management said they had to appoint the accused as warden since no woman staff was available for the post.

The principal of the school said the physical education teacher was appointed on a temporary basis.

The girl’s parents lodged a complaint on Saturday, police said. According to the girl, the accused allegedly used to sexually abuse her.
