A group of 60 people is walking from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, a distance of 6,500 km, to speak about peace and harmony with people along the way.

The event, called ‘Walk of Hope’ has been organised by the Manav Ekta Mission. The participants, who started from Kanyakumari on January 12, reached Bengaluru on Saturday.

The group, which has covered 20 km a day so far, halts at a village or town every evening to meet with the people there for a dialogue and inter-faith prayers.

Sri M, founder of Manav Ekta Mission and a participant of the walk, said that the group was not contesting that the country has different religions and ideologies but walking to create a society where opportunity is given to all, regardless of caste, religion, region or gender.

The group, which aims to reach Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir by April 16, 2016, will start from Bengaluru on Friday. Anybody can join the group for any distance.
