The Upparpet police have arrested a 23-year-old hotel waiter on the charge of murdering his colleague in Upparpet on Last Sunday.

The accused Krishna Lamani was working as a waiter in Koli Mane hostel in Upparpet, where 60-year-old Nanje Gowda was employed as a cleaner.

According to the police, Nanje Gowda used to pocket the tip left by customers for Lamani. Nanje Gowda was a native of K.R. Pete in Mandya. He had been working as a cleaner in Koli Mane Hotel for the past four years.

On Sunday, Lamani had an argument with Nanje Gowda and in the heat of the argument, slit his throat with a table knife and escaped.

The Upparpet police Sunday traced Lamani to his hometown Haveri and arrested him. Lamani was booked under the charge of murder and remanded in judicial custody.
