April 06, 2013 05:03 am | Updated 05:03 am IST - BANGALORE:

The Bangalore Urban election authority on Friday said proper arrangements have been made for distribution of voters’ slips to all those enlisted in the voters’ list five days before the date of polling.

Addressing representatives of political parties here on arrangements for next month’s Legislative Assembly elections, District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner V. Ponnuraj said booth-level officers (BLOs) have been appointed for each of the 2,319 polling booths in the seven Assembly constituencies in his jurisdiction and they and their staff will arrange for distribution of the slips. The constituencies are Yeshwantpur, Dasarahalli, Yelahanka, Byatarayanapura, Mahadevapura, Anekal and Bangalore South.

Help at hand

Asked how the slips could be distributed if a house is locked, Mr. Ponnuraj said the Election Commission has ordered setting up of a help counter at each booth manned by a BLO. Besides issuing slips, the officials will provide necessary guidance to voters.
