The city police have cracked the murder of Jabeen Taj (32) last fortnight at her home in Viratnagar by arresting five men.

The Vyalikaval police said Mohammed Farooq (30) and Keval Ram (30), both from Kolar, Ilyas (24) from Anekal, Ajay Kumar (40) and Sadiq (28) both from Bangalore were detained for what was termed as suspicious behaviour.

On being interrogated they confessed to the Taj’s murder. Her husband owned several houses and they knocked on her door on the pretext of looking for a place to rent. When Taj said there was none, they asked for some water. She went in to get it and the five followed her, gagged and trussed her and strangled her to death, police said.
