A concerned resident helped the traffic police to book a cab driver for carrying over 15 children in a Maruthi van and driving in a rash and negligent manner in Malleshawaram last Thursday.

Deepak Shingadia, a Malleshwaram resident noticed the Omni car with 15 children zooming past him on the small bylanes. The driver, later identified as Naveen, was driving in rash and negligent manner while the children were battling for space inside the vehicle.

Mr. Shingadia chased the vehicle from MES school in Malleshwaram to East West Public school Subramanya Nagar and took pictures, which he later uploaded on the traffic police website seeking action.

Based on the complaint, the Malleshwaram police tracked down the vehicle and booked the driver Naveen for rash and negligent driving and violation of permit conditions for carrying school children. A total fine of Rs 3,300 was slapped on the driver and his driving license has been recommended for suspension.
