A 20-year-old woman, who was sold to a brothel in Delhi by a gang of three women, helped the Chikkaballapura police to bust an inter-state human trafficking racket. The victim has not only helped the police to bust the racket but also rescued another woman who has been trapped by the gang and sold in the brothel.
Based on her information the Chikkaballapura district police have arrested three women on the charges of selling a 20-year-old woman to a brothel for in Delhi for Rs one lakh after luring her with a decent job.
The accused Sakinabi alias Delhi Bhoovamma, 60, Shahina, 42 and Reshma, 28, all are native of Bagepalli in Chikkaballapur district, were arrested based on the information provided by the victim. Police said that the kingpin of the racket identified as Lakshmipathi is on the run and efforts are on to nab him.
“We have arrested the three women in a human trafficking case. They are remanded to judicial custody. We will take them into our custody for further investigation", the Chikkaballapura police said.
The racket came to light when the victim managed to escape from the brothel and approached the police seeking help. Based on her information, the police arrested Zakir from old Delhi who had “bought" the woman for Rs one lakh from his contacts in Bangalore and raped her repeatedly before selling her to brothel .
Zakir during the interrogation confessed that he had also sold one more girl aged around 23-years to the same brothel situated on GB road in Delhi.
The police have arrested the madam of the brothel and sent the victim back to while handing over the case to the Chikkaballapura counterparts for further investigations.
The Chikkaballapura police who registered a case on January 15, tracked the trio who have lured the victim promising her a decent job in Delhi and sold her to Zakir .
The victim, who is married ran away from house after having an altercation with her husband on January 1 and came in contact with Bhoovamma and others in the bus standwhile she was trying to board a bus to an unknown destination.
Bhoovamma lured her to get a decent job took her to Delhi and handed over to their contact, Zakir at Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station.
We have taken them into custody for further questioning to ascertain their involvement in other human trafficking cases, the police said.
