January 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:06 am IST - BENGALURU:

On January 18, when Vijaya Bank holds its quiz competition for high school students, it will bid for being recognised as India’s longest running quiz.

This will be the 29th year of the Vijaya Bank’s V-GenUTH quiz. The bank has sounded the Limca Book of Records for conducting the quiz since 1986, making it the longest running contest to be held in the country. Giri ‘Pickbrain’ Balasubramaniam will be the quizmaster, a bank statement said here on Monday.

The Vijaya Bank Cultural Club will host it at the bank’s head office in Bengaluru.

High schools from the State can participate in the quiz and each one can nominate up to four students from Classes 8 to 10. Each year, a large number of schoolchildren participate and win attractive prizes. Many schools from across the State have confirmed participation, the release said.
