In a move to reduce noise and air pollution, vehicle movement inside Cubbon Park has been barred on a trial basis on Sunday.

According to the police, the move would minimise pollution-level, and people, especially senior citizens and children visiting the park, could walk freely.

The move is part of a trail to see how traffic would be affected if the park is closed to traffic every Sunday. Instead of taking the roads inside the park, motorists can use adjacent roads like Kasturba Road, Dr. Ambedkar Road and Nrupatunga Road to reach their destinations.

The police have also suggested people visiting the park can park their vehicles on Kings road. Those visiting Vishvesharaya Museum can park their vehicles at the parking lot of the museum situated backside , the traffic police release said .

All the gates of the park would be closed from Saturday 10 p.m. to Monday 8 a.m.
