Vehicle jatha welcomed in Tumakuru

The vehicle jatha, which started from Bengaluru, was welcomed by the leaders of Democratic Youth Federation of India, Students Federation of India, Centre of Indian Trade Unions and other progressive organisations at Town Hall Circle in Tumakuru city on Sunday.

Writer Agni Sridhar, Dalit leader Venkata Swami and journalist Manjunath Adhe have launched the jatha from Bengaluru to Mahadayi project site in Belagavi district demanding implementation of Mahadayi project, intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to solve the issue.

They urged the government to implement the Kalasa-Banduri project to provide drinking water to the four north Karnataka districts.

They also demanded the State government provide compensation to those who were beaten up by the police during Mahadayi protests.
