Students of the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) have demanded postponement of their semester exams scheduled to start on June 24 stating that they were not prepared for it. A group of students submitted a memorandum to Bangalore University Registrar (Evaluation) R.K. Somashekar on Monday urging him to postpone the exams for first, second and third year students saying “We request you to reschedule the exams so that it starts from July 8.”
They even said they don’t have any objection if the results are delayed by a month from the scheduled date. They said delay in the announcement of odd semester results, academic schedule and announcement of the exam timetable have left them unprepared to appear for the scheduled exams.
Responding to this, UVCE principal K.R. Venugopal said the students were expected to prepare for the exam on a “continuous basis”. However, he said that the decision on postponement would be taken on Tuesday by Vice-Chancellor B. Thimme Gowda.
The latter has convened a meeting with the heads of departments of UVCE on Tuesday morning at the Jnana Bharathi campus on the matter.
