Upalokayukta pulls up BBMP again

October 26, 2014 01:27 am | Updated May 23, 2016 04:43 pm IST - Bangalore:

Upalokayukta Subhash B. Adi has pulled up the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on the issue of illegal hoardings in the city once again.

A private company, Eagle Eye Enforcement Solutions, has complained to the Upalokayukta that even though they made an offer to remove illegal hoardings, with the company equally sharing the revenue collected as penalty with the BBMP, the file was still pending in the BBMP.

Upalokayukta, in his letter to BBMP Commissioner M. Lakshminarayana, said this was contrary to BBMP claims that no company had come forward to take the contract to remove illegal hoardings in five zones. The complainant also claimed that he was ready to deposit Rs. 50 crore per annum with the BBMP to begin with. The BBMP Commissioner has been asked to respond by November 14.
