Upalokayukta inspects lake

Upalokayukta S.B. Majage on Wednesday visited Gottigere lake for an inspection following a complaint filed by an environmental group, V Save. The Upalokayukta directed officials of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, Bangalore Development Authority and Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board to close all illegal borewells in the lake area and stop letting sewage into the lake. The Upalokayukta gave a deadline of April 15 for officials to take these measures and added that he would visit the lake again in May.
