A bust of National Security Guards commando Sandeep Unnikrishnan, killed while fighting terrorists inside the Taj hotel in the November 2008 Mumbai attacks, was unveiled here on Monday by the former DGP Shankar Bidari.

The commando’s father, K. Unnikrishnan, a retired ISRO officer, who was present, said that his family was living an aimless life after their son’s death and hadn’t celebrated any festivals for the last four years.

“Nothing can compensate this loss,” he said.

Advising India and Pakistan to work together to counter terrorism, Mr. Unnikrishnan said that Kasab’s execution was not going to discourage terrorists.

“They are trained to kill people… my son was trained to save lives,” he said. — PTI
