Alleging apathy by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) towards the maintenance of Ulsoor Lake, members of the Bharatinagar Residents Forum staged a protest here on Friday at the lake.

Forum president N.S. Ravi said walkers and joggers using the track within the lake area to improve their health would instead be facing a health hazard. Referring to the part of the lake towards the MEG Centre, he said the stink emanating from that part of the lake was unbearable.

“The BBMP has been ignoring east Bangalore. What is shocking is that the Ulsoor Lake is in the heart of the city; it is less than 1.5 km away from M.G. Road. But still the lake has not been cleaned. We are giving the BBMP an ultimatum of 15 days to clean this lake. After that, we will lay siege to the Mayor’s chamber,” Mr. Ravi said.
