The Indiranagar police, on Tuesday, arrested UB Group’s Vice President (Sales) Samrat Chadda on charges of drunken driving, rash and negligent driving. He was later released on station bail.

On Saturday night, Chadda drove his BMW in a rash and negligent manner, colliding with an autorickshaw at G.M. Palya. Four persons, including the three passengers and the autorickshaw driver, were injured in the accident, while the autorickshaw was damaged.

The Indiranagar traffic police detained Chadda and a medical examination revealed that he was under the influence of alcohol.

The police seized his vehicle and summoned him the next day for questioning. However, when he did not appear for questioning, the police arrested him on Tuesday from his villa in Vignana Nagar. He was questioned for two hours and later released on station bail.

In his statement to the police, Chadda said he lost control while taking a turn at G.M. Palya and collided with the autorickshaw, while maintaining that it was not intentional.

This is not the first time Chadda has been booked for drunken driving. A senior police official said that he has been booked for the offence by the Mumbai and Goa police earlier.
