Two construction workers died of electrocution while on duty at Ayyappa Nagar in Chikkamagaluru city on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Vishwanath (29) and his relative Pandu (25). They are residents of Shankarapura in Chikkamagaluru. Chandru (19), also a worker, suffered injuries in the incident. They came in contact with a live wire while carrying iron for RCC moulding of a house belonged to Shahanaz.

Shahanaz had hired four persons for moulding on Sunday. According to S. Krishna, Vishwanath's younger brother, the owner of the house had informed the workers that she had got the power supply cut to allow the moulding work. “The power supply had not been cut, she had misled the workers. Vishwanath and Pandu came in contact with the live wire while handling an iron pipe. Chandru also suffered serious injuries in the incident,” he said.

He has filed a complaint against Shahanaz and her husband Azeez. Chikkamagaluru Police have registered a case of death due to negligence.
