Two men were stabbed when road rage turned violent in Tilaknagar on Friday evening.
According to the Tilaknagar police, Manjunath and Raghu were riding on East End Road around 7 p.m., when a car nudged their motorcycle. This led to a heated argument between the duo and four men who were in the car.
Someone in the car hit Manjunath and the riders threw stones at the attacker and fled. However, the men in the car chased them, and eventually in the ensuing scuffle, Manjunath and Raghu were stabbed.
The police are in search of the men in the car, one of whom they believe is Shashi, who has had cases registered against him in some police stations in the city.
Dark future and death
Loss of vision and consequently the loss of his job are said to be the reasons behind the death of a daily wage worker who he set himself on fire in his home in Arundathinagar, near Chandra Layout.
The police said Suresh (26) started losing his eyesight around two months ago. And when treatment did not help, he took to heavy drinking.
Around 4.30 p.m. on Friday, Suresh poured kerosene over himself and set himself ablaze. Neighbours, who saw smoke billowing from the house, rushed to douse the flames. Suresh, who suffered 60 per cent burns, was admitted to a nearby hospital where he died around 7.30 a.m. on Saturday.
Suresh is survived by wife Anjali, who works in a paper factory, and their three-year-old daughter, Meena, according to the police.
Woman kills self
Depression and a dysfunctional marriage led a woman to hang herself to death on Friday evening in her home at Gangammanagudi. The police said Chandrika (54) and her husband Manimaran had been fighting as he blamed her for their being childless. On Friday, when Manimaran returned from work around 7.30 p.m., he found Chandrika's body hanging from the ceiling.
House burgled
Gold items and cash, cumulatively worth over Rs. 3 lakh, were stolen from a house in Mahalakshmi Layout on Friday evening. Pratibha, who locked the door of her house on 7th Cross around 4 p.m., returned around 9 p.m. to find her house burgled. The thieves broke the lock on the back door and made away with around 130 gm gold and Rs. 15,000, the police said.
Chains snatched
Gold chains worth around Rs. 90,000 were snatched by two unidentified men from a woman in Bhuvaneshwarinagar, near Hebbal, on Friday night. Kamalamma (54) was headed home around 7.30 p.m. with a bagful of groceries when the motorcycle-borne duo wrenched her chains off her. Though Kamalamma grabbed her mangalsutra which broke, the thieves managed to get away with gold weighing around 70 gm, the Amruthahalli police said.
