Two revellers stabbed to death in row during Ganesh procession in Bangalore

A row over stepping on others foot while dancing ahead of the Ganesh procession led to the killing of two persons in Banaswadi on Sunday night, police said.

The duo, Karthik and Keshav, both teenagers, were rushed to Bowring hospital, with multiple knife wounds and were declared dead on arrival.

Police said the victims, residents of Janakiram Layout were dancing in the procession taken out before immersion of the Ganesha idol.

While dancing, Karthik reportedly stepped on the feet of another reveller, which led to heated arguments between him and another group. The fight took ugly turn when Keshav tried to intervene following which the group stabbed the duo repeatedly before fleeing the scene.

The Banaswadi police rushed to the spot and detained four of nine alleged assailants. Efforts are on to nab the others.
