Two rescued from prostitution racket

The sleuths of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Women and Narcotics Wing on Friday arrested three men, who were allegedly running a prostitution racket in HSR Layout 4th Sector, and rescued two women, who had been forced into the trade. The arrested persons were identified as Devaraj (26), Ratan (25) and Anil (24).

Officials said that the two women from Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal respectively had been lured into the trade with offers of employment in the city and then pushed into the trade

Drug peddling

In another case, the CCB sleuths recently arrested four persons for the possession and distribution of the narcotic drug Ephedrine. Upon receiving a tip-off, the officials raided a building located near Hesaraghatta and recovered 1 kg of Ephedrine along with five mobile cell phones and a two-wheeler estimated to be worth Rs. 1 lakh. The arrested persons were identified as Srinivas (42), K.H. Raju (39), Santhosh (28) and Ramesh (40) all from Bangalore. Soladevanahalli police have registered a case.

Forging documents

The Peenya police recently arrested Kalapegowda (38) on charge of submitting forged documents to the court as a surety while applying for bail for an undertrial.

Kalapegowda had allegedly forged documents in the name of a deceased man (Uttaiah) as surety in the bail application of Manjunath (26), an undertrial.
