Two persons including a veterinary doctor were killed in separate accidents since Tuesday night.

A veterinary doctor was mowed down by a speeding lorry on Wednesday early morning at Yeshwanthpur, as he was waiting for a bus to go home. It was a hit and run accident as the lorry sped off without stopping.

The deceased was later identified as Rangappa (55) a resident of Hesarughatta, based on the papers found on him. Rangappa had been to Shivamogga and returned to the city in a private bus and alighted at Yeshwanthpur at around 4:30 a.m. He was waiting at the RMC Yard ‘U’ turn when the lorry mowed him down. He came under the wheels and was killed on-the-spot. Yeshwanthpura traffic police have registered a case and are further probing the case.

In another case, a 22-year-old youth was killed in a self accident as he fell into a 10-feet deep ditch with his bike along the Hesarughatta Road on Tuesday late night.

The accident came to light on Wednesday morning when the youth's body was found in the ditch by residents of the area. The deceased was later identified as Nagaraj, a computer technician, residing at Enataganahalli. He was returning home after finishing the day’s work. Jalahalli traffic police inspector said that there is a steep curve on Hesarughatta road and Nagaraj, who was overspeeding, could not have navigated the curve and fell into the adjoining ditch.

Police said that Nagaraj could have been saved if he had worn a helmet. Jalahalli traffic police have registered a case.
