Two killed in road accidents

A 37-year-old man was killed in an accident when he was mowed down by a BMTC bus near Bagalagunte here on Saturday night.

The victim, Venugopal, was on his way to attend a wedding reception of his neighbour at a convention hall in Hesaraghatta.

He was accompanied by his relatives and other residents of the area who were all waiting to board a BMTC bus.

Venugopal was standing behind the bus when the bus driver accidentally ran over him as he was taking the vehicle in the reverse around 8 p.m.

In the other incident, a 45-year-old electrician died in an accident on Horamavu main road.

He was identified as Palani, a resident of Horamavu.

Palani was riding his motorbike with his 13-year-old daughter Gayatri when a water-tanker knocked him down.

Palani died on the spot. His daughter, Gayatri, suffered minor injuries.

The police have seized the tanker which the driver abandoned before fleeing.

The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.

A case has been registered in the Banaswadi traffic police station.
