Two persons including a 77-year-old man were killed and ten others injured when a swarm of honey bees attacked them during a weekly market at Devanahalli bus stand on Wednesday.

Tension gripped the area when hundreds of customers and merchants ran helter skelter to save themselves from the attack.

Shiva Reddy (77) and Shankar (33) were caught off-guard and killed on-the-spot in the attack.

The police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to government hospital.

Later, with the help of local tribesman, the police removed the honeycomb by conventional smoke method.

“We have taken up a case of unnatural death and investigating to ascertain whether there was any mischief involved”, a senior police officer said.
