Two homemakers commit suicide

Two homemakers committed suicide in their homes in RPC Layout and Hampi Nagar in Vijayanagar.

In the first incident, Swetha (34) allegedly immolated herself in her kitchen at her residence in RPC layout on Saturday morning. Her husband was outside their home when the incident took place. He rushed her to Victoria Hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Shwetha’s parents, who live in Belagavi, are on their way to the city. Swetha’s husband has taken a six-month sabbatical to prepare for a competitive exam.

In another incident, Vedavathi (22) was found hanging in her bedroom by her mother-in-law at around 11 p.m. She alerted her son, Praveen, who immediately shifted her to hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Lorry rams auto

An autorickshaw passenger was killed and two others injured when a lorry rammed an autorickshaw at Kasturi Nagar on Saturday. Police identified the deceased as Venky, a resident of Ramamurthy Nagar. The injured are Sunny, Venky’s friend, and auto driver Manju.
