The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) unit of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telengana arrested two foreign nationals and seized a cache of drugs from them at CMR Layout, Challakere Extension, on Sunday.

According to Sunil Sinha, zonal director, NCB Bengaluru, 48 g of hashish oil, 430 g of ganja, 3 g of methamphetamine and five blots of LSD were seized from a Maldivian national, Anil Ahmed alias Pronto, 35, and a Nigerian, Yakubu Usman alias Senator, 30.

Anil Ahmed was also involved in a case of trafficking 1.89 kg of hashish oil through Bengaluru International Airport in November last year. “He was absconding and we got information that he had come to Bengaluru,” a senior NCB officers said.

NCB officers were tipped off that Ahmed was going to strike a deal with another foreigner in the city. “We tracked the foreigner, who got into a parked car in CMR Layout. Our officers surrounded the car and found the Maldivian they were searching for,” the officer said.

The two have been remanded in judicial custody. “During interrogation, we found that Yakubu Usman did not have a valid passport. Many foreign nationals who are caught while dealing in drugs do not have valid passports,” the officer said.
